ShopRuche.Com

While I was happily blogstalking one of my stylish friends, she posted a link to http://www.shopruche.com/.

Super cute stuff that's pretty affordable! And now that the seasons are changing and I am struggling finding things to wear, I think I'm going to start shopping....

The Mormon Bachelorette

Have you ever watched The Bachelorette and wished that there was a version for the LDS population? Well wish no more! There is in fact, a Mormon Bachelorette starring one of my favorite people, the beautiful Aubrey Messick.

I met Aubrey July 4th, 2009 while visiting Huntington Beach. She was so kind and led me and my AZ friends to the Huntington Beach Parade. We became instant Aubrey fans, and have maintained our friendship through her visits to AZ to see her sister and our trips to visit her in HB. Aubrey is one of the most solid girls I know and I absolutely adore her, so I hope you will join with me on supporting her in her quest to find Mormon love!

You can learn more about The Mormon Bachelorette here: http://www.themormonbachelorette.com/.

You can help her by following the blog, following on Facebook, and then recommending your most eligible LDS bachelors to post an application for a date with her!

This is definitely going to be a big deal, and I hope that this proves to be successful for her. She deserves it!!

Why Finding a New Place to Live is a LOT Like Dating

This is going to be a REALLY good post...once I get a second to breathe and actually compose it.

Get Excited.

(Does that phrase remind anyone else from assemblies/activities from high school? Maybe it was just a Highland High School thing....:) Thoughts, fellow Rams?? )

Gunpowder and Lead

I went up to Wyoming for the White Family Reunion last weekend and finally was able to go shooting. I just found out my Senior year in college that my Dad has a decent sized gun collection. I knew he loved them, but I never knew how many were in our house until then.

I've been wanting to go for some time and I LOVE IT. It's so much fun! I'm not too bad of a shot either! I'm glad my uncles, cousins, dad and brother let me tag along for the fun.

Add this to another reason why I love my sister-in-law Carly:
SHE'S GOOD WITH A GUN.

She even knew all the names of the guns! Very impressive.

It was really nice to be able to spend some time with my extended family. We live far apart from each other and we have never been very close, but they really are great!
As I sat there listening to my Grandpa tell about when he met my Grandma, and the 6 kids, 36 grandkids and 64 (soon to be 67) great grandchildren, it hit me.
This is what it's all about: FAMILY.
So grateful for my family and for my parents decision to be sealed in the temple for time and all eternity.
Can't wait for my own one day! :)

So I've Been Thinking....

Random thought of the day:

This has been my afternoon snack lately. Definitely cures my sweet tooth with only 90 small calories per individual box!

So the question is...do you think eating these every day will increase my luck??

I'm hoping so. :)

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO ME!

I mean Happy GENERAL MILLS Anniversary to me!

Today marks 3 years to the date that I began working at General Mills. - July 16, 2007.

I can honestly say taking this job and moving to Arizona was one of the best decisions in my life.
I feel blessed to work for such a great company and to have had so many great experiences. I am truly passionate about my job and what I do. I'm also very grateful for the friendships and the people that I have met and worked with at General Mills. I know that my life is better for knowing them. I know that is a huge part of why I am happy every day at work. I'm grateful to the Lord for answering my prayers and guiding me to where I am today.

JET SETTING - June 2010

These days I'm not home much. I figured out I am in AZ during June for a total of 14 days.

SO. Where have I been and where I am going for the other 16?

Let me tell you.

June 8-10: Long Beach for work. A trade show where we sell our product to smaller mom and pop stores. In case you can't tell - it was a racing theme.

June 14-16: San Antonio, TX for a Charity Event/Golf Tournament. I didn't get any pictures, but believe me it was hot and humid, but I LOVED playing Golf. I need to play it more often! I'm not too bad either!

June 18-20: Utah to see the fam. :) SO much fun hanging out with my parents, and with my sister's kids. They are SO fun and so adorable. I also was able to reunite with some dear friends from high school and college. I truly am so blessed to have such great friends!

June 22-24: Minneapolis, MN. I think I get to go out on the lake! I'm super excited!

June 27-30: Chicago! I've never been - I'm so excited! Another work trip, so we'll have some meetings and some play.

July 1-5: Huntington Beach, CA. Once again, my girlfriends and I are headed to Cali for the fourth! I'm so excited! I love my friend Aubrey and all her roommates who we will be staying with. It will be a good weekend!

July 7-8: Dallas, TX. I have yet another work meeting a day after I get back.

I hope I don't have to take any more trips this summer, but I'm sure I will!

Hope your summer is blessed and you stay safe! Wear lots of sunscreen! Skin Cancer isn't a joke! :)

THE WINNER.

ok so maybe I went to Nordstrom Rack tonight and saw a girl with a bag I LOVE. So I asked her where she got it. I realized it's the same bag my beautiful friend Aubrey has. AND I'M OBSESSED WITH IT.

I found it, and bought it online.

Here's the Beaut. I bought it in Pink. Fuschia to be exact.

I'm SO EXCITED.

In the Market For a New Bag

I need a new purse! Anyone seen any cute ones lately??

I'm looking for:

  • Leather

  • Good quality
  • Comfy straps
  • Not TOO expensive

Have you had your eye on any good ones lately?

We Talk of Christ

As I've been listening to my church's past General Conference via Podcast, something that I have been thinking about quite frequently is:

"We talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach of Christ, we prophesy of Christ, .... that our children may know to what source they may look for a remission of their sins."
- 2 Nephi 25: 26

In the past few weeks I have met and spent time with some great Christians and I am inspired by their vocal committment to Christ.

I want to be better about talking of Christ and rejoicing in Christ because I know my Savior lives!

HELP NEEDED

So lately I have been obsessed with two things.

Working Out

and

Organizing/Decorating my house.

I was sitting eating dinner tonight and I realized the great potential that was right in front of my eyes.

THESE.

But what should I put in them??

I'm thinking a gorgeous vase, maybe a cool plate..I don't know! If you know of any great decorating websites that could help, or if you have any ideas yourself, I would LOVE to hear about them!!

Thanks!!

My Favorite Part of Minneapolis

Besides getting to spend a few days at Headquarters...
My favorite part about Minneapolis is the restaurant: REDSTONE GRILL. If you're ever in Minneapolis, you MUST GO HERE. www.redstonegrill.com

It has a lodge-type ambience, with great American food. I got food to go both nights I've been here in Minneapolis.
Last night:
-Shrimp Gemelli
-Side of Asparagus
-THE BEST CORNBREAD YOU'LL EVER EAT - with Maple Butter. Super healthy, I know. :)
TONIGHT:
-Spicy Jerk Chicken with Apples, Grapes, and Smoked Gouda Fondu
-Rotisserie Chicken Salad with Grape Tomatoes, sweet corn, raisins, and cornbread croutons

Not trying to brag how good the food is, but I WAS IN HEAVEN. :)

More posts to come on my travels to Idaho, Austin, and some fun adventures in the great state of AZ.

XOXO

DODGEBALL!!!!!!!!!

So in February, Candace, Andria and I went for a joyous weekend vacation to visit our dear friend, Aubrey.

While there we hit up Disneyland, and participated in the Huntington Beach Pierside Ward DODGEBALL TOURNAMENT.

Each team was dressed as a different movie theme and boy was it fun! We were all not looking forward to it and it was JUST as much fun as Disneyland.

ENJOY! :)

HUH??

So I mispelled Blogspot and typed in www.alishawhite.blogpsot.com and look what it is....

Kind of funny, huh? :)

The Scare Last Night

Last night I got home at about 11 PM from going to the Institute Social and Andria's house. I was talking on the phone to my friend Stephanie and my roommate Brooke handed me a letter. It said:

Dear Alisha, Becca, Brooke & Larisa,

I have decided to sell the house, so unfortunately as of May 31, 2010 you will not be able to live in the house anymore.

Consider this your eviction notice.

Sincerely,

Jeff (My landlord)

WHAT???? May 31st? ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I kept saying, "SERIOUSLY?"

I started thinking all sorts of crazy thoughts..."Ok May 31st, that's going to be hot, but where am I gonna live? Do I want to move closer to work? Man moving all my stuff is going to be a pain. I wish my company would do it for me." You know those moments where your mind goes into overtime.

Then my roommate said,

"Look at the date. What day is it today?"

It took me a second before I realized.

She got me. I fell for her April Fool's joke! She's good :)

And as it is now April 2nd, I just wanted to give a shoutout to my amazing sister Ellen. I just was lucky enough to spend the weekend with her and we had a BLAST! She is now the mother of 2 and have I mentioned she is a rockstar? Martha Stewart Junior for real.

She made THIS cake for Amelia's 2nd Bday FROM SCRATCH.

I kept asking her where she got the crafty gene because it DEFINITELY skipped me.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY EL!! I LOVE YOU! Thanks again for an amazing Ohio weekend!

"Weird Eyes"

This is not a joke...

A boy actually stopped calling to ask me out because apparently, I have

WEIRD EYES.

HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA

Good. He wasn't man enough to handle the Coloboma. :)

I knew he wasn't the one for me even BEFORE I found this out.

We really just weren't compatible. Hope you enjoyed that laugh as much as I did. :)

GRATITUDE March 19, 2010

Today I am grateful for:

  1. This morning's drive to work. It was a little overcast, and I loved the way the sun broke through the clouds and I saw actual sunbeams! Reminds me how the light always breaks through the dark. :)
  2. Not every day, but some days I see a man riding a bike who looks like Santa Clause. Except he's wearing a helmet, pink jacket, tall socks, and has American Flags on the back of his bicycle. I can't help but smile when I see him!
  3. Yet ANOTHER trip to Yogurtland last night (Yes that makes 3X this week!) with two of my favorite girls - Candace and Stephanie.
  4. MARCH MADNESS! I have never filled out a bracket before but boy is it fun to follow! :)
  5. $7.50 salad/soup combos for lunch at Sauce.
  6. The fact that when I woke up today I was actually motivated to get to work and get cranking knowing that at the end of the day, its the WEEKEND! :)

  2. Meeting a new friend from church to potentially move in with.
  3. Yogurtland - I LOVE FRO YO! I've already been 2X this week and I know the workers' names :)
  4. Waking up to beautiful sunshine in my room and not feeling mad that I have to get up. (This sometimes happens as I never sleep enough.)
  5. A little bit of vacation to look forward to: March 25-29: Columbus to see Ellen, Dan, Amelia and meet new baby Luke!
  6. Listening to good uplifting Christian music on Pandora
  7. Realizing that I do not know the future but feeling peace knowing that God does and will lead to me to where I need to be in life like He ALWAYS has.

GRATITUDE

For some reason, Monday was a hard day for me and I was feeling a little discouraged. Nothing bad happened, I think I just let myself focus on the negative instead of the positive. That night I read a great article in the Ensign about how expressing your gratitude can help you overcome those discouraging thoughts.

So here it is! I'm going to attempt to write 5 things I'm grateful for every day.

I know what you're thinking - "Ya right, Alisha write on her blog EVERY DAY?" I just got inspired by two of my co-workers, Katelin and Kristina who do this regularly.

Ok so maybe it won't happen, but I will definitely try. And I'm sure it will be the best thing I can do for myself.

  1. I am grateful for those moments when you realize Heavenly Father truly is looking out for you by the small moments of reassurance that you feel.
  2. I am grateful for my faith in God and in my Savior.
  3. I am grateful for my wonderful parents, 3 sisters who are my best friends, the best 2 older brothers a girl could ask for and great in-laws. Oh and did I mention I have the cutest nieces and nephews EVER? :)
  4. I am grateful that my sister Sarah lives in the same city as me and I get to hang out with her. She has always given me great guidance on school, career, and dating. I love you Sis!
  5. I am grateful that Max calls me Boss-Wisha and will cuddle with me while watching TV.
  6. I am grateful for the huge smile that I get from Issey when she sees me and when she gets mad if I put her down.
  7. I am grateful for wonderful friends at work, at church, from my almost 3 years in AZ, from college and from high school. They are truly a blessing to me from my Father in Heaven! "Thy friends do stand by thee, and they shall hail thee again with warm hearts and friendly hands." D&C 121:9; "Ye are they whom the Father hath given me, ye are my friends." D&C 84:63
  8. I am grateful to work for such a great company, and that I love what I do. It makes my days enjoyable even though it's work :)
  9. I am grateful for my wonderful ward and for all of the truly inspiration people that I get to meet. There are both awesome girls AND guys. I haven't found that in a while.
  10. I am grateful for a healthy body that enables me to do all the things that I want to do. I feel very blessed that Heavenly Father has allowed me to come to this Earth to prove my worthiness to return to Him. I am definitely imperfect and need His help, but that is my ultimate goal.

I'm BACK

After a 3(?) Month Hiatus I am BACK!!

I'm loving 2010. I feel GREAT about this year. It's gonna be a GREAT one! Something about it being an even, symmetrical year makes me feel good. :)

It's already been pretty good. But sorry, I work A LOT these days so when I get home, I want to run 17 TRILLION miles because I've been sitting all day in front of my computer so therefore I don't blog anymore.

And I don't really read your blog anymore either.

If there are nice pictures I might look at them for 2 seconds during a break at work.

Other than that, life is good! I'm in the best ward in Phoenix and I finally feel like I'm FINALLY in the ward I want/need to be in.

Heavenly Father continues to guide and direct my life and I couldn't be more thankful.

I have REALLY wonderful, inspiring, supporting, caring girlfriends that have been a huge blessing to me lately.

I hope He has blessed you thus far in 2010 as much as he has blessed me.

Much love,

Alisha

I love Max. He is the sweetest thing and always makes me happy. He is very complimentary and He even asked if he could marry me one day!

Some of my amazing girlfriends.

I can't help but look like a cheerleader when I do this pose...
